no gear changes of any kind? you wernt missing any buffs? the paladin/warrior that was putting on the ap buff was fully talented?
i ask these because there was nothing in the patch notes that would account for a loss of 1k ap for a druid, and your experiences dont jive with the experiences of several druids i know, which is another reason why i think it might be on your end so to thing about me is that apparently it’s very hard to tell when I’m drunk. I hate them as well. 1v1 they will kite you to hell if you can’t CGD them.
SO ya that is my advice. Either GCD them or bring a friend. -Day light savings is for fools.
Feral Charge is your friend! I don’t Arena as Feral ever but in BG i rarely have trouble with frost mages as feral.

Well, just outdpsing everyone is not a goal you should set yourself as a Hunter. You are a class with so much potential for utility that aiming just for the Damage Meter is both for you and the raid. Well, unless of course your guild needs nothing but your DPS.
The DPS build of choice these days seem to be Beastmastery. If you check the Pre-Raid gearlist you will find both Gear you should have, and a few cookie cutter builds. Getting a dps pet will take you around a day or so if you count the loyalty building. I leveled a Scorpid from 69 to 70, and got it to loyalty level 6 by simply bringing it to two instances I ran that day. Took me about half an hour picking up a Scorpid in Silithus, learning rank 4 poison (the reason for rank 4 is that is lasts 10 seconds, not 8). Oh, and not using your pet, no matter which spec you choose, is a bad thing. If you want to top dps charts, ignoring one of the most powerful DoTs in the game is just dumb. The gear you will want to focus on here, is Attack Power. The higher the better. There is no real magic number for when to start focusing on Crit, but you will need some serious AP before Crit becomes the most viable stat to increase.
If you don’t want to be Beastmastery, you might consider Survival. But that is highly gear dependant. Why? Because you want Agility instead of pure AP/Crit. Now, there are different opinions on this, but most people agree that 500 unbuffed agility is the minimum if you want to raid. Preferrably more. Personally, I am just sitting at 550 Agility unbuffed and I still have gear to change out pre-raid. Now, why Survival? Well, one of the most powerful raid buffs may be one of the reasons. Expose Weakness. Every crit you make gives seven seconds of Increased AP (25 of your Agility) for all attackers on that target. Ranged Criticals to be exact. Also, a Survival build is made with crits in mind, and will hopefully net you a decent amount of Attack Power as well, so you won’t exactly be slacking dps wise. Keyword: Agility Agility Agility and then Crit. Ap may arguably come third, or depending on your crit chance second.
If you want to go Marksman, you will have to make sure you got plenty of Mana Potions with you in the raid. This is the build with the least sustainability. Granted, you will have a higher Burst Damage than both other speccs, but your sustainability will suffer a bit. This is still a good dps build, but slightly frowned upon compared to the sheer dps of a BM build. Here you will want a good balance of Attack Power and Crit. The higher you get both, the better.
And in no circumstances are you allowed to just ignore your pet. It is our class’ strongest tool. It is the reason our class even exists. If you don’t want to use it, I suggest you reroll a Mage.
Edit: Warcrafthunter, MM is the least Mana Efficient build. Don’t spread misinformation like that.

I don’t have high end gear either so how will that effect choosing my spec? I’m getting mixed messages about what spec gives the best DPS some say SV others MM and others say BM.
I have no clue what I’m going to be expected to do besides DPS in Kara, some say CC is a must others say just to do what you like and I’m confused about that.
DPS wise I need a build relying on myself DPSing because my current pet is a bear so it’s not gonna be that good at DPS. Is there some way I can spec to hold my place on the DPS meter on trash mobs but when a boss comes up be able to nuke and pretty much out DPS every one?
I truly have no clue what works and what doesnt work in a raid. I don’t want to sound whiney and lazy but I dont have the funds to respec if I get something wrong and my current build makes questing hard as hell.-Darigraz – Hunter
Q: why the churches are being burned down in Norway?
A: imagine a place where there’s a church, a pub and 10 houses altogether. it’s also winter for three quarters of a year.
in 9 of the 10 houses live your friends, the 10th house belongs to your family… you spend your time in the pub, so what’s left to be burned?

Hijacking this thread to transform it into the grand hunter macro thread.
1) wing clip+raptor strike
/cast raptor strike
/cast wing clip
you’ll get a raptor strike on your next attack and instantly a wingclip.
2) Steady shot+kill command
dont know this macro out of the top of my head =P
i’ll look it up.
3) easymisdirect
/target
/cast misdirection
/assist
(note: havent tested this yet, so if someone could that would be nice =P)
4) assist
/assist
as easy as it is, it comes in very handy quite often.
5) DPS!
/cast
/cast Bestial Wrath
/cast rapid fire
leave out /cast bestial wrath for non BM
6) trap
/cast [button: 1] freezing trap; [button: 2] frost trap
will use freezing trap by clicking it or pressing whatever key you have bound to the button, will use frost trap on right click.
(change to immolation, explosive trap, snake trap and/or add ‘; [buton: 3]‘ for the middle mouse button (even 4 and 5 if you have buttons on the side of your mouse =P)
7) broken trap
/y Trap is
easy and logical but i put it in anyway because it helps and lets everyone know that that mob is loose.
now you can throw this into your first post skribs =P- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person.

Your argument about RAP vs AP doesn’t contribute to much, because as a hunter, you would be at range, so you would benefit from both evenly.
Falcons Call was from pre-BC, one of the head/leg enchants from ZG, so it is quite a bit worse. with Nethercobra, you’re getting +26 AP, + 12 crit, -10 hit, and -10 stam.
The stam doesn’t matter much, and once you’re geared for pre-kara, you will have enough hit, so crit would be better, and Falcon’s Call would be very hard to obtain right now, as almost nobody raids pre-BC, and it wouldn’t be worth the time.I have read a dozen different forum posts and each seems quite confused. I’ve been a solo player for a couple of years but, in the last few months, joined a progressive, comfortable guild and have been really gearing up.
As a consequence, I have taken to examining the finer details and squeezing out as much damage as possible. Though my gear is not as good as others in our guild, my DPS is frequently the best (in the Gruul encounter, for instance).
Something that I have never thought to ask, however, is how Attack Power and Ranged Attack Power compare. I am a beastmaster, with most of my points in that section (some in marksman and three in survival). If you had a weapon with X RAP or another with X AP, will the AP not also be RAP?
It seems to me that AP is either ranged or melee, whereas RAP is a bonus only to ranged – therefore the AP weapon (assuming all numbers and characteristics are the same) would be better.
1) Correct?
2) If that is correct, would I be better off with (for pants):
Falcon’s Call
or
Nethercobra Leg Armor?
I assume the latter.
It feels odd, having played for so long, to ask… but it must be asked… as there seems so much disagreement on the subject.
Thanks.

I havn’t seen a post on this so I thought I’d post it up. 2.4.2 patch notes are up at MMO-Champion (see-able here). These are as they are on the PTR and hopefully are not set in concrete (see below). Those Scare Beast changes are there (with much controversy) but it’s not all sunshine for hunters. Here they all are that have been noted:
2.4.2 wrote:Hunter
Aspect of the Viper: This ability now grants an additional amount of mana each 5 seconds equal to 35 of the hunter?? level.
Boar Charge: This ability will no longer make Growl cast immediately after it generates excessive threat.
The pet ability Growl will no longer scale with pet Attack Power.
Dire Ravens in Blade?? Edge Mountains now tameable.
Scare Beast: The range on this spell has been increased to 30 yards and it is now instant cast.
Tamed Drywallow Snappers now will know Bite 5 (instead of Claw 5.)
Well, at least Blizz adressed my one desire in the game, those Dire Ravens! Thank god for that one. Also that change to Drywallow Snappers is a god send. A slight nerf to the boar charge (Never had a boar so don’t even know if it’s a buff or a nerf, im guessing on what I’m seeing.) But all in all there is one main talking point for this patch:
Scare Beast: Quite a controversy surrounding this one. Looks like this is another attempt to nerf run away druids and increase the want of hunters in arena with as low as possible effect on PvE. The one problem here though (and where most of the controversy has stemmed from) is it’s much bigger effect on Feral Druids. The way I see it is that Blizz is attempting to somehow find a way to both increase the viablility and want of hunters in Arena and nerf Resto druids all in one move, but it has bombed by laying the smackdown on Ferals much more than Restos. Their answer is pretty much “Not all specs are ment to be viable for arena”.
So what do you guys think of the patch notes so far?-Palintanta 70 Night Elf Hunter
